When you come to WLS, you want to have everything you need while you're away from home. Please read the following list of items you should bring with you.

What to Bring to WLSWhat You Should Bring:

  • Medical information from Indian Health Services*
  • Sleeping bag or bedding & pillow
  • Shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, bath towels, etc.
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Appropriate summer clothes
  • Modest one-piece bathing suit
  • Flashlight
  • Jacket
  • Umbrella or Rain Jacket/Coat
  • Sweatshirt & long pants
  • Personal spending money (optional)

The following list of items are NOT allowed at WLS.

Do NOT Bring the Following:

  • Gang rags or colors
  • Cut-up shirts or clothing
  • Midriff-showing tops or thin/spaghetti strap tops (girls)
  • Excessively thread-bare or multi-pached clothing
  • Two-piece bathing suits
  • CD players, CD's, radios, mp3 players, non-Christian music, etc.
  • Pornographic materials
  • Knives, firearms, or weapons of any kind
  • Fireworks
  • Pets
  • Drugs or medication (unless prescribed by a doctor**)
  • Tobacco of any kind (smoking is strictly prohibited)
  • Alcohol

*Note: Before you come to WLS, you need to go to your local Indian Health Service and notify them where you will be traveling. Make sure you have your I.D. card on you at all times at WLS. If you don't, it could mean large emergency medical bills for your family. If you need to obtain an I.D. card, go to your local tribal office.

**Note: If you must bring medication prescribed by a physician, you must also bring written instructions and turn them into the Health Care Technician upon arriving at WLS.
